The most recently publicised dog attack in the UK took place on New Years Day. Ellie Lawrenson was killed by her uncle's Pit Bull Terrier at her Grandmother's home in St Helens, Merseyside.
Since the attack, media reports have heightened public fears about many dogs, including Rottweilers and Pit Bulls.
The government minister who introduced the Dangerous Dogs Act has called for Rottweilers and 'Alsatians' to be added to the list of breeds required to wear a muzzle when in public. Many have slammed his comments as "uninformed", "ridiculous" and "impractical" but nevertheless his comments have added to the general public hysteria surrounding guardian breeds such as the Beckham's Rottweilers.
